Congee Wong

Congee Wong on 16th Avenue was super busy tonight - luckily we had a reservation!

Clockwise from Top: Fish sauce chicken, char siu plate and Szechuan eggplant
The chicken was rather bony and the char siu was pretty lean. The Szechuan eggplant wasn't as spicy or tasty as Maple Yip's

Beef and Kai-lan and eggplant with fried tofu
The beef with kai-lan was pretty good. The tofu and eggplant was okay, but the portion was a little small for our table.

Fukien fried rice
I love this fried rice: fried rice with sauce poured all over the top - Yum! Unfortunately, the fried rice was rather plain and the sauce wasn't particularly strong in flavour which made the whole rice dish bland.

Pork, straw mushrooms, snow peas and celery
I thought this was chicken until I tried it and realized it was pork. I found this oily, but it was okay.

Sizzling honey garlic pork chop
A lot of sweet honey garlic sauce was drizzled over the pork chop and sizzling plate.

Yeung Chow Fried Rice
Another bland fried dish - I think we would have been better off ordering white rice to go with our dishes

Chinese red bean, tapioca and grass jelly

Overall: It was an okay meal. The service was quick and the prices were reasonable, but the food wasn't anything exceptional.
