Korean Fried Chicken, Eggplant Sangwich Doubledown and apple galette

A nice variety of tapas/snacks from steak tartare to Korean fried chicken. I liked all the options on the menu - it took us a while to order since we wanted to try everything. The food was pretty good.

Chicken sandwich, falafel and coleslaw

The falafel was really good. I liked the chunky pink tahini sauce and I thought it made the the dish very colourful. The coleslaw had pickles in it which made it saltier than most coleslaws and a little sweet. 

Really tasty chicken sandwich

The sandwich also had pickles (not something I usually like) which added a salty briny flavour, but it was really good with the tender juicy chicken. For $14, the portion was kinda small, but everything was really tasty and good quality.

Croissant with almonds $4.32

Crunchy on the outside with a super flaky interior and almond paste which was really good. I liked that it was almond paste and not almond cream.

Vienna cake

Raspberry and lychee mousse and rose milk pudding

Light and not too sweet. I liked the whole cake altogether, especially the lychee mousse.

Crispy on the outside and light inside - not as buttery as I would have liked though.

A chicken parm sandwich with lots of tomato sauce on a kaiser bun!

Penne Bolognese

Pretty good bolognese sauce and there was a lot of penne in this regular portion. 

Tea Shop 168

Update: Location has closed. 

I wanted taro milk tea but I wanted to be super economical today, so I went to Tea Shop 168 where they have promotions and super cheap bubbletea. 

Taro milk bubble tea with tapioca $2.99

The taro milk tea was super watery and the tapioca were super melted. It kinda tasted like sugary taro powder mixed with water with strange slimy tapioca. I probably should have paid a little more and got a proper taro milk tea somewhere else.

Wanda Pie in the Sky

Key lime pie

This is probably my favourite type of pie, so I always have high expectations. This pie from Wanda's was pretty good for a creme pie (not a key lime curd pie though). I thought it wasn't too sour and not too tart or sweet either - it hit the right balance. The coconut in the crust was interesting as well to give it a different texture.

Jardin Rouge (Mixed Berry), Sakura, Mango and Raspberry Pistachio eclairs

I was kind of disappointed with the raspberry pistachio eclair - it wasn't as great as I thought it would be (I had high expectations). I think I would rank them as follows: mixed berry, raspberry pistachio, mango and sakura.

Baretto Caffe

Baretto Caffe has a lot of positive reviews on Yelp.

 

They have a super small kitchen area, so food does take a little longer to prepare.

It looks like a huge portion, but there weren't a lot of layers in the lasagna

Rose pasta

There were so many positive reviews about the rose pasta that I had high expectations. It ended up being kinda strange - the rose sauce was sweet. I definitely wouldn't get this again.
