Blaze Pizza

Dec 15, 2020 @ Yonge & Sheppard

Pi Day was a little messy this year, but luckily Blaze Pizza decided to extend their $3.14 build your own pizza deal from March 14th to the end of the year. Therefore, I finally redeemed my coupon right before Dec 31, 2020. Luckily, I ordered in advance through the app, so I could pick up my pizza immediately by the time I got there (otherwise, I'm sure I'd be waiting almost an hour between the lineup of people and the baking of my pizza).
Build Your Own Pizza: Classic Dough, red sauce, mozzarella, parmesan, applewood bacon, meatballs, chicken, ground beef, Italian sausage, basil, garlic, peppers, mushrooms, onions, roasted garlic, roasted red peppers, spinach, arugula, pesto drizzle, buttermilk ranch on the side.
It was a monster pizza with all my favourite things that I wanted on a pizza (gotta take full advantage when you get unlimited toppings).
The pizza turned out okay and actually pretty yummy (since it did have all my favourite toppings), but it was a little greasy and oily (maybe too many toppings). I felt that it did have a lot of garlic though (almost like double the portion) and there were a lot of different flavours going on here, but it worked for me!

May 10, 2016 @ 10 Dundas E
Blaze Pizza is an American pizza chain that offers all you want toppings for one set price of $10.45.
They opened up their first Canadian location at Yonge and Dundas last year.
There were a ton of varieties on a thin crust pizza.  I loaded mine up with red & green peppers, mushrooms, sausage, chicken, onions cheese and pesto sauce before they baked it in their oven.
The pizza was really good! And I love their pesto sauce - yummy!

Overall: Great value for money and really delicious pizza! I'll definitely be back.

Pizza Hut

October 8, 2020
Pizza Hut has a BOGO pizza promotion with code 879:
Chicken Lovers and Grilled Chicken Rustico medium pizzas
Love that fluffy thick pan crust!

Meat Lovers and BBQ Chicken Medium pizzas
The BBQ sauce was more sweet than savoury and I wasn't a big fan of it.

August 21, 2020

Pizza Hut was running their $5 medium special promotion: with the purchase of a large pizza at regular price, you can get up to 3 medium pizzas at $5 each.
Medium pan chicken arribiata with extra cheese and medium pan chicken rustico with extra cheese

Large pan meat lovers $21.49 and medium pan chicken lovers with extra chicken $5
Pretty good deal since we got extra chicken and extra cheese on the medium pizzas (although they all had about the same cheese level except the meat lovers pizza)
We had a ton of leftover pizza that we froze to them pan fry another day (love that their crust retains its crispiness)!

July 9, 2020
If you fill out the survey at the bottom of your receipt, there's a Buy One Get One offer (BOGO) on their regular price pizzas.
Meat lovers with pepperoni, bacon, ham, sausage, beef
I love meat pizzas since they're such strong flavours and I really like Pizza Hut's pan crust - it's so yummy!

Grilled Chicken Arrabbiata with Grilled Chicken Breast, Green Pepper, Red Onions, Roasted Red Peppers, Marinated Tomatoes
The pizza was a little spicy from the chili flakes and added a nice dimension to the regular pizza. I also really enjoyed the pesto marinated tomatoes as they made the pizza more pesto-y. I also found that Pizza Hut pizzas aren't as greasy as they used to be (the box was not full of grease after we finished devouring the slices).

June 26, 2020
The $10 pizza of the day on Fridays is Chicken Caesar
Alfredo sauce, grilled chicken, roasted garlic, parmesan and mozzarella
We decided to mix it up and got the homestyle crust, but after trying this pizza, we much prefer the classic pan crust that Pizza Hut is known for - it's tastier. The pizza was pretty good! I liked the alfredo sauce on the pizza.

June 25, 2020
Pizza Hut has a $10 medium pizza of the day promotion (online only). Thursdays are Supreme pizzas:
Pepperoni, sausage, beef, green peppers, mushrooms, onions and cheese
The pizza was so colourful! I forgot how good their pan crust was and it's not as super greasy as I remember (although there was a bit of grease) and it's pretty thick crust. There were also a lot of toppings which was pretty good and a good amount of cheese.

Pi Co.

July 29, 2020
The Pi Co. app promotion ($10 off $25+ order) also has free delivery for the month of July!
Craft your own $14: pesto, white sauce, fior di latte, parmesan, shredded mozzerella, arugula, broccoli, eggplant, chicken, sausage, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, spinach
The whole pizza was a lot sweeter with the fior di latte and alfredo sauce, but there was a bit of a spicy kick from the sausage. I really like it.

Craft your own with California tomatoes, pesto, fior di latte, parmesan, shredded mozzarella, arugula, bacon, black forest ham, basil, fried eggplant, grilled chicken, mushroom and sun dried tomatoes
The pizza was kind of salty from a combination of the toppings, but still tasted pretty good.

July 14, 2020

Pi Co. has a promotion going on with their new app where if you order through their app, you can get $10 off orders of $25 or more.
Craft Yours Regular Dough Pizzas $14
Top pizza: California tomato, pesto sauce, ham, grilled chicken, turkey, sundried tomato, arugula, fresh basil, kalamata olive, mozzarella and parmesan cheese, mushrooms.
Bottom: roast garlic, chorizo, bacon, red onion, banana peppers, mushroom, spicy soppressata,  chicken, pepperoni, sausage

The top pizza was loaded with toppings and was quite heavy. The pizza was actually kind of spicy and salty with the olives and meat. The crust was nice and doughy, but it was pretty thin in the middle and not fully baked through probably from the loaded toppings.

Fior di latte, parmesan, shredded mozzarella, pesto, California tomato sauce, roasted red peppers, chicken, ground sausage, broccoli, arugula, fried eggplant
I love that they offer fior di latte - it's a nice sweet and creamy cheese that tastes delicious melted on pizza and I think it helps make the pizzas less spicy (if you have any spicy ingredients like maybe the California tomato sauce). My overall impression of the pizza was that it was on the sweet side, most likely because of the fior di latte and roasted red peppers - but it was still delicious. I feel like I ordered a lot of toppings but didn't get a loaded pizza like the first one up top - there was only one broccoli floret and I couldn't really find the eggplant.

March 14, 2020
Pi Co.'s pizza day is a great deal! You get any pizza (any one of their specialty pizzas or create your own with unlimited toppings) for $3.14 (limited one per person). It's only valid from 11am to 3:14pm - so we thought going around 2:30pm would be okay. There was still a bit of a lineup, but it wasn't too terrible.
San Marzano sauce (great tomato flavour), roasted red peppers, chicken, onions, pesto sauce, fior di latte cheese (balls of deliciousness), mozzarella and arugula on top
Really good pizza! I really liked the tomato sauce and the fior di latte - definitely get those two!

Crushed California tomatoes (not as heavy on the tomato flavour), prosciutto, ham, pepperoni, mozzarella and arugula on top.
The crushed tomato sauce was a nice idea, but it didn't really translate well on the pizza if you like pizzas with lots of sauce and flavour.

Metro @ Bayview and York Mills

July 21, 2020
I can't believe I've never noticed the full list of toppings here before: they have pineapple and roasted red peppers.

Metro X-Large Pizza $9.99 with three toppings - chicken, sausage and mushrooms

They cut the slices pretty big and there's loads of toppings on the x-large pizza (chicken and sausage here are two of my favourites as you can probably tell and I tend to mix up the third topping).
The pizza crust tends to be a thick doughy crust and they bake it in their pizza oven in the Fresh to Go section in about 20 minutes. There's also a generous portion of cheese and sauce on the pizzas.

June 19, 2020
The search for good key lime pie continues! Metro had a sale on their Irresistible's Key Lime Pie
Irresistibles Cream or Key Lime Pie - $7.99
It was a good key lime pie that was more sweet than tart. The whipped cream also helps cut the tartness of the pie and it had a strong key lime flavour with a nice pie crust.

May 14, 2020
Metro is back with their 3 topping large pizza deal for $9.99. We called in advance and went to pickup (instead of waiting in line to get into the grocery store and waiting around in the grocery store for 20 minutes). It was pretty quick around lunch, there were a few people in line to get into the grocery store (to respect social distancing rules) and then I got my pizza in minutes and was out of the store in no time at all.
Chicken, mushroom and sausage pizza
Yummy! They put on lots of chicken and sausage.

June 14, 2018
It almost seems like the pizza got bigger - and it's still the same price on sale $9.99 for a 3 topping pizza!

October 7, 2017
Metro is offering a promotion this week: Three topping large pizza for $9.99. The toppings are also a lot more substantial than most pizza places - so I jumped on this deal!

Top pizza: chicken strips, mixed peppers (green and red) and sausage (a little spicy)
Bottom: Chicken, ground beef and mushrooms
I really like their pizza crust at Metro - it's delicious and when they bake it long enough in the oven, there's a nice crispy bottom. They also put a lot of toppings, cheese and sauce on their pizzas which is great! I prefer this to the chain restaurants like Pizza Pizza and Dominos.

May 9, 2017
Metro is a grocery store in Canada and they have a Fresh2Go daily special every day of the work week (Monday to Friday). Wednesday is the 16 inch pizza with cheese or pepperoni.
Pepperoni pizza
They have a really good dough - which makes a really good crust and they have a good pizza oven to get the nice even crispy crust all around. The pizza was really good and it was only $7.99 (a steal)!

November 6, 2015
Unfortunately, the prices for the 3 topping panzerotti have gone up - but only by $1 (so it's now $6).

This was the cutest panzerotti I've ever seen and I had to take a photo and post it.
It's so perfectly shaped and folded. Also, delicious as usual!

April 16, 2015
I'm so glad that Metro is still running the $5 for a 3 topping Panzerotti promotion!
I was passing by this Metro and I picked up a $5 panzerotti (and this time I took a picture of the size of it compared to a pen)

Crazy!
So much tomato sauce, chicken, ground beef, onions and cheese in this panzarotti!

Still delicious and still worth the trip here!

Pizza Pizza

July 1, 2020 @ Shops at Don Mills
Pizza Pizza has a 50% off Canada Day Promotion using code July1 online, so we ordered the biggest size of the pizza we wanted.
X-Large Bacon Chicken Mushroom Melt with thick whole grain crust, creamy garlic sauce, bacon, mozzarella, mushrooms, grilled chicken and red onions
The bacon chicken mushroom melt combination was pretty good! I liked the creamy garlic sauce instead of their normal tomato sauce. The whole grain crust was pretty good too, but next time I'll avoid getting thick crust - it just felt like there was a lot of dough/bread to eat.

March 14, 2020 @ Shops at Don Mills
Small Pepperoni Pizza (one per person) $3.14
The Pi Day promotion was better this year where you could walk in and order a small pizza with either pepperoni or cheese for $3.14 from 11am - 3:14pm.
This location wasn't really busy when we went by at 3pm, so I got my pizza really quickly. It is limited to one per person.

March 14, 2018 @ 761 Bay Street
Pizza Pizza is a popular pizza chain in Canada.
They celebrate Pi Day (3/14) by offering a pizza pie promotion with code piday, you can get a pizza for $3.14 from 11am - 3:14pm. However, you have to spend a minimum of $5 online for takeout or delivery or through the app.

Pepperoni pizza

I got a dipping sauce and pop for $5.90
Their pizza is a pretty good deal for this price. Personally, of the fast-food pizza chains in Toronto, I think Pizza Pizza might come in second after Pizza Nova.

Pizzeria Via Mercanti

Ciambella ripiena pizza $20 and Linguine allo Scoglio $24
The cheese-stuffed crust in the ciambella ripiena pizza was really good. The linguine was a miss, the calamari were super gummy, stringy and chewy kind of like the defrosted frozen kind. The other seafood was okay, but the pasta and sauce were kind of bland.

Pizza Libretto

Aug 22, 2019 @ 155 University Ave.
Complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic and spicy chili oil

Feature pizza $18
Sausage, peppers, basil and cheese
The pizza crust is so good!

Gorgonzola Gnocchi $16
Lovely fluffy pillows of gnocchi with a yummy gorgonzola sauce (my favourite way to eat this particular blue cheese). Delish!

Oct 16, 2012 - 221 Ossington Ave.
After salivating over the BlogTo Best Pizza in Toronto list, I couldn't wait to try out Pizza Libretto (which was #1 on the list)
The front door boasts certified authentic Neapolitan pizza
The menu was simple and straight forward, so my friend and I were originally going for an appetizer and pizza to share, but then our friendly server recommended that we get two pizzas and share them instead.

Rosemary bread with yummy balsamic and olive oil mix

Margherita D.O.P., Tomato, Basil, Mozzarella
Wood Fire ovens add a great crispiness to most pizza crusts. Libretto's pizza crust has a doughy, chewy Naan-like texture which is very yummy. It's a nice change from all the thin-crust or thick greasy crust pizza I've been eating.

I loved the fragrant basil leaves which was also nicely complemented with the gooey mozzarella and super fresh and tangy tomato sauce. Yum! Simple and delicious!

House-Made Sausage, Caramelized Onion, Mozzarella, Chili Oil
I really liked this pizza! The sweet caramelized onions contrasted with the chili oil and created this complex and powerful punch of flavour. It wasn't too spicy either - a little hint of heat from the chili oil and it added a nice orange colour to the pizza. The morsels of sausage were delectable - but I have to say my favourite part of the pizza was the perfectly done caramelized onions - Wow!

Overall: Great place! Service was fantastic and super fast (we ordered our pizza and in less time than it takes to go to the washroom, they arrived at our table). The pizzas were authentic, fresh and delicious!

Levetto

Beef Ragu $17
The ragu sauce was good and the pasta was really nice.

Funghi pizza
The mushroom had a few varieties of mushrooms and it was pretty tasty.

Verdolini - pesto spaghetti
The pesto was okay, the ricotta crema was interesting.

Beer Bistro

May 27, 2019
Belgian White

Red Thai mussels

Puttanesca
At first I wasn't sure what to think since it had everything I don't like: anchovies (salty fish), olives (salty vegetable), capers (salty plant) and chili (spicy). However, it somehow worked really well with the sweet mussels.

Duck fat fries - a must have here

August 27, 2015
Belgian Frites $6
Beer Bistro has some of the best fries in Toronto (and I'm not a big fan of fries - but these are delicious!).  The frites are blanched in beef & duck fat and served in a nice cone with house made mayo and smoked ketchup.  The blanching in fat really helps the flavour since they're pretty strong tasting by themselves. However, with the slight tangy and sweet mayo, they're so much better - the mayo balances the fries somehow.

Provençal mussels with fresh herbs, tomato, lemon zest and spiced ale
I feel like the last time we were here, the food was much better. The one thing that didn't change is the warm sourdough bread and dipping it in the provencal broth to make it tastier!

Spicy Red Thai with coconut chili broth, maudite, lemongrass, sweet peppers, lime leaf & cilantro
I've definitely had a better version of this before and this one was rather disappointing - the Spicy Red Thai broth wasn't that great with the sourdough bread either (it was a little too spicy for the doughy bread).  Also the size of the mussels:
We asked the manager about them and he said that these were the sizes provided but that they made sure that they gave us a pound of mussels each.  I thought this was a bit of a rip off and it kinda put a damper on the whole meal. I mean - they were the size of a small lemon! Granted it was probably because they were seasonal, but yikes! So mediocre.

May 2, 2014
When given the choice between a glass of wine or a pint of beer, I will definitely admit that I"m a beer drinker rather than a wine connoisseur. And while in the past I wasn't a big fan of beer flavoured food, I have a much better appreciation for it now after eating at the Beer Bistro.

Poached Pear Pizza with caramelized leeks, l'ermite blue cheese and parmesan cream sauce
The flatbread pizza crust was thin and crispy with large chunks of softened poached pear on top and a nice cheesy sauce. It worked really well together.

Coq au Biere: Maredsous braised chicken, woodland mushrooms, tarragon, creme fraiche dumpling
I really enjoyed the beer spin on the coq au vin - it's such a classic French dish with a twist. The chicken was tender and delicious and really absorbed the flavours well as did the dumplings from the earthy mushrooms, salty bacon and slightly sour beer.

Belgian White Mussels: Blanche de Chambly, garlic, parsley, lemon, cream
You can never go wrong with mussels & beer and the Belgian White mussels are definitely a classic at Beer Bistro. They're succulent, tasty and there's just something about the sweet mussels and sour beer combination that's makes it so delicious.

Overall: A great beer-centric meal at Beer Bistro. I love the beer selection here and it's classier and nicer than Bier Markt down the street at the Esplanade.
