Chipotle

Dec 8, 2020 @ Shops at Don Mills
Huge regular chicken burrito and chicken burrito bowl
The chicken was a tad dry at this Chipotle location today, but it was still seasoned okay. The bowl seemed like it was mostly rice with some Mexican toppings like salsa, sour cream, cheese and beans rather than a real Mexican burrito bowl dish - it was kind of missing something to tie it all together.

Boorito has become an annual thing now! $6 with a Halloween Costume, I think it used to be cheaper than that.
Steak bowl that got smooshed on the subway

Chicken burrito bowl and steak burrito

Packed with lots of beans, rice, vegetables and meat!

Chipotle has a promotion on Halloween if you wear a costume, you can get a Boorito for $4.
Awesome deal! Unfortunately no guacamole included.

Burrito Boyz

August 25, 2020 - 789 Warden Ave
Skip the Dishes gave me a $10 coupon code, so I used it towards a pick up order for Burritos! (it worked out to pretty much BOGO)

Massive Small Chicken Burrito $10.47 with white tortilla, beans, cheese, rice, lettuce, coleslaw, bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, corn, salsa, burrito sauce and a little spice
The chicken burrito was really good - super tasty and toasted so well. Delicious!

The store also gave me free chips and salsa (which were delicious!)

Small Steak burrito $10.77 with whole wheat tortilla, beans, cheese, rice, lettuce, coleslaw, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, corn, cilantro and chipotle salsa
The chipotle salsa added good heat, but it was spicy! The burrito was pretty yummy with all the ingredients stuffed inside and toasted outside.

October 3, 2018 - 74 Dundas St. E

Massive "small burrito"

Beef

There was a super long lineup, but the wait was worth it.
The burrito was packed with tons of beef and all the toppings I wanted. Then it was all grilled together to make all the ingredients warm and melt the cheese.

Burrito Bandidos

June 29, 2020
The new online ordering system made it super convenient to order in advance and pick up!
Burrito Bandidos Menu (July 2020)
The prices online were pretty similar to the prices in store.

Large Chicken burrito $11.29 and Large Steak/Chicken Burrito
I liked how you could also customize your burrito online. There was a lot of meat in the burritos and they were really good with lots of melted cheese, toppings including guacamole and they were grilled and pressed to perfection - yummy! The portion size was also really big.

Massive small burrito with chicken and steak

I love that they press the whole burrito after they finish throwing in all the condiments and wrapping it. It melts the cheese and makes it taste so much better!

Looking back at my old blog entry, I realized that I've actually had burritos from Burrito Bandidos quite a few times in between.  I've just been a little too lazy to blog every time. :)
Steak and Shrimp burrito bowl
Every since I've discovered the burrito bowl, I can't help always coming back to it. With a burrito, it's like you're dependent on how the staff pack your burrito and it's all encased in one massive hand-held wrap. In a bowl, you have control over how you want to eat your burrito bowl (or box in this case). It's just so delicious all laid out and you can even toss it as a salad so that every bite is different.
Also, the shrimp is delicious - definitely try it!

Burrito Bandidos has a reputation for the best burritos in Toronto - Eye Magazine, NOW magazine, DineTO and Toronto Life Magazine have rated the burritos here very highly.
My coworkers have also tried this place and raved about how these were some of the best burritos in Toronto (better than Chipotle,Burrito Boyz and Zteca). Therefore, my friend and I decided to try it out for lunch. The store is two blocks north of Yonge and College, so it was a relatively quick walk from College Park and although the store is very tiny and the menu relatively simple - there was still a decent variety of stuff to choose from.

My friend and I both got the Chicken burrito (I got a large and she got a small - but they used the same wrap size - I just got a lot more of the toppings as you can see below). The ingredients were super fresh and we got premium toppings for free with our burrito (contrary to the other burrito places, where they charge you an extra $0.50 - $0.75 for guacamole and cheese).  My burrito was perfect! Crispy skin on the outside, the cheese inside was melted everywhere in the burrito and the chicken was succulent and full of flavour. Definitely worth the $8 something for the lunch - I was so stuffed I could barely eat my dinner later that night.
Just a warning: my friend got the hot sauce and spicy stuff in her burrito and it didn't sit too well with her stomach...

Conclusion: Amazing! (for me), the small is definitely better value and I would totally recommend this place  & go back again (but I should probably warn you against the hot sauce...)

Update on Dec 30, 2011
Still as delicious as the first time!
Halibut Burrito!
Amazing! A bit pricier - but the fish was melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Not as much kapow flavour as the chicken or steak, but still really good! The only size available is Large - so be prepared to pay a bit more.

Halibut and chicken burritos

The steak burrito on the left, halibut in the back and chicken on the right.
I felt that the chicken had the best flavour! (I might be slightly biased since chicken is my favourite type of meat). The ingredients are fresh and I love that they really stuff the burritos with everything you want (including a ton of cheese and guacamole). Consistently amazing!

Street Eats Market @ Yorkdale

In the era of social distancing, Yorkdale Mall has created a new street eats food truck drive thru!
Mary Brown's Spicy Big Mary Chicken Sandwich
Good crispy fried chicken with a really tasty and spicy mayo. A good spicy chicken sandwich overall and I learned that pickles can be paired well with chicken sandwiches.

Rebozos Taqueria Flautas $14+tax
Fried rolled tortillas with chicken, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and medium sauce
The flautas were okay for the most part, but I wished there was a stronger flavour in the salsa to add more flavour to the dish because the chicken flautas were kind of plain overall. There also wasn't a lot of sauce.

Santiago's Mexican Restaurant - Denver

We picked up breakfast at Santiago's Mexican Restaurant on our way to the Garden of the Gods.
At 10:30am, they had breakfast burritos and regular burritos.

Pretty big burritos for $2.50 (breakfast) and $2.75 (beef)

Breakfast burrito
It was really good and it's such a good deal! The cheese, egg, chorizo combination wrapped in a tortilla is an awesome way to start the morning!

Mildred's Temple Kitchen

July 7, 2019
Scones & Biscuits

Fluffy Mrs. Biederhof’s Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes
Delicious as always! It's become a tradition for us to take visitors to Toronto to Mildred's Temple Kitchen for these pancakes.

Veda’s Choice with poached eggs and smoked salmon in a croissant

Big Brunch skillet

July 3, 2017

Special Skillet with maple glazed pulled pork, beans & potato hash with sunny eggs
The maple syrup flavour stood out and while it was good, it wasn't really exceptional.

The Manhandler with sliced flat iron steak on toasted garlic sourdough with arugula, two eggs sunny & a side of MP sauce.
We didn't really think this was the best presentation of the dish - we could barely see the steak and arugula because of the eggs (and the eggs were fried in a strange way). The steak was good (but a rather small portion) and the sandwich was nice, but it felt like we were eating mostly potatoes.

Veda’s Choice with poached eggs on a flakey croissant, smoked salmon, topped with Béarnaise sauce & served with mixed greens
This is always a favourite since it's always done well. The croissant was perfectly flaky and the poached eggs and smoked salmon were delicious.

Brunch special: maple smoked pork skillet
Somehow a smaller portion...not really consistent

Mrs. Biederhof’s Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes
Pancakes were stacked mile high again! Super fluffy and yummy with the syrup and blueberry compote.

October 23, 2016
We had a relative from overseas visiting, so we took her out to brunch at one of the city's best brunch spots.
Scones and Tea Biscuits
The scones are so yummy!

Mrs. Biederhof’s Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes served with a wild blueberry compote, Lanark County maple syrup & whipped cream.
The pancakes were as fluffy as ever with lots of blueberry compote and maple syrup.

Veda’s Choice Mildred’s classic poached eggs on a flaky croissant with your choice of smoked salmon or bacon, topped with Béarnaise sauce & served with mixed greens
Delicious! Definitely my favourite brunch item of the day.

Omelette brunch special
The omelette was a little disappointing considering the size and the price. I wouldn't order this again.

April 2, 2016

I've heard great things about Mildred's Temple Kitchen, so we tried to get to Liberty Village early Saturday morning to try out their famous brunch.  There was an hour wait at 10:30am and we ended up waiting an hour and a half before we were actually seated.
First things first: endless coffee
Either we were really exhausted or this was one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had, after the third cup, I think it was definitely one of the smoothest and most flavourful coffees I've ever had - even without all the cream and sugar - it was so delicious!

Our waiter was informed that we waited a really long time for a table, so they gave us a complementary blueberry scone and a biscuit with clotted cream and chocolate sauce as a starter (which was really nice of them)! Both the scone and biscuit were AMAZING!

Mrs. Biederhof’s Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes
This brunch meal was a massive stack of three pancakes with decadent wild blueberries, whipped cream and real maple syrup was heavenly.  The pancakes were light and fluffy and the blueberry sauce was so tasty and rich in flavour. SO GOOD!

Huevos Monty: Mildred’s classic black bean refritos & sharp cheddar cheese baked in flour tortillas & topped with eggs sunny, fresh salsa & avocado crème fraîche
I've been thinking about the Huevos Rancheros I had at George Street Diner and so I was kinda excited to get the Huevos Monty.  It was good, but it wasn't really my favourite dish between the three.  Something just seemed like it was missing from this brunch dish to really make it stand out.

Big Brunch Skillet with spicy pulled pork, roasted onions, black bean and potato hash with sunny eggs and piri piri salsa
I love skillets and I liked the slightly spicy kick from the pulled pork.

Overall: Good brunch at Mildred's Temple Kitchen! I'll be dreaming about that fantastic cup of endless coffee and the deliciously sweet and tasty massive stack of blueberry buttermilk pancakes for quite some time.  The service was actually pretty fast, but the patrons were all there to slowly enjoy their lazy morning brunch.
