Green Grotto

Update: Location has closed.

Chinese mushrooms and pickled vegetables and soup

Top: Scrambled Tomatoes and egg and Salt & Pepper Chicken
Bottom: Mapo Tofu and Crispy Chicken Cutlet
The dishes were okay - it was a pretty reasonable price of $14.99 for the meal and a drink/dessert. I got a hot taro milk tea (which was terrible and powdery).

Update: I ended up getting food poisoning the next day - I would definitely not come back.

HoHo Korean Food @ First Markham Place

Chicken Katsu
Great crunchy katsu :)

Spicy chicken
Yummy and not too spicy.

May 23, 2018
Chicken Katsu with two fried chicken filets, purple rice, chap chae, kim chi and mandu
Huge portion of fried chicken! Totally unexpected for around $10. I also really liked the side dishes like the kimchi, chapchae and mandu. I will be back :)

Diyijia

I got a decent deal on the following items through the Feedback App:

Cheeseplosion chicken
It was like a cheese whiz stuffed fried chicken breast. I think I liked the concept more than the execution.

Jumbo Squid
I liked the spices on the squid.

Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie

Super pretty!

Poutine!

Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie
Strawberry Pistachio Profiterole and Key Lime tart
The desserts were pretty sweet - the strawberry profiterole had chocolate in the middle.

Francesca Bakery

Dec 9, 2018
Chicken parmigiana sandwich
The sandwich seemed a lot smaller than Lamanna's and Agincourt's sandwiches.

Lasagna
The lasagna had a lot of cheese which was nice, but taste wise, I prefer Lamanna's lasagna.

Dec 7, 2018

Sicilian Cannoli $1.99 each and Sicilia cake (pistachio, orange and almond cake) $4.79
The Sicilia cake was really good; it had lots of pistachio flavour.

Rose pasta shells $5.50
The rose sauce was good.
They ran out of lasagna this time, but we will be back to try it.

Kibo Sushi House

Volcano roll
It's so colourful with the purple crunchy bits

Everything looks so good!

Sashimi appetizer and miso soup with tofu
It's nice that they gave us "butterfish roses" with avocado - it was something different.

Salad King

Dec 4, 2018
Islamic Noodles $13.50
My favourite dish here combination of curry and coconut milk with lots of sauce on noodles! Still great - I got 2 chilis which made it spicier, but not too spicy.

Oct 29, 2012
Thai Islamic Noodles $10.50 (off the menu)
Thai Islamic Noodles are rice noodles in a mild and milky coconut curry sauce with broccoli, peppers, chicken and shrimp. It's a great blend of sweetness from the coconut milk with a hint of spice from the curry (and of course you can make it hotter up to 20 chilis). Very creamy and tasty.

Salad King used to be the place to be for Thai food in Toronto until the building burnt down in April 2009. The owners opened up Linda at Shops at Don Mills, and eventually they re-opened Salad King near the Ryerson Campus again.
Salad King interior on the second floor
It's very similar in format to the original location with their long tables - you can brush shoulders with everyone from business people in suits to students.

Thai Fried Rice $8.50
Rice, egg, shrimp, chicken, carrot, onion, pea and curry sauce
The fried rice was really yummy! It wasn't too spicy even though the menu indicated it would be spicy - I thought it was really tasty and it was such a large portion too! The quality is much better than a food court Thai place and it's about the same price: I would say that it's pretty good value.

Phud Thai with Chicken $9
Rice noodle, carrot, peanut, tofu, green onion, bean sprout, coriander, egg, fish sauce and tamarind sauce.
The last time I had Salad King's Phud Thai (or pad thai), I remember being wowed. This time, I wasn't wowed by this dish - it was okay. I thought there were way too many peanuts on this dish - almost like they were using the nuts to cover up for something else.

Overall: The portions are quite large and you really do get what you pay for - however, I think the quality of the food has decreased from what I remember. I think I would recommend Linda instead of Salad King for good Thai food now.

Firefly Seafood & Steak House

The special dinner promotion seems like a great deal: buy one get one free for $27.99.

Buns to start

Half baked lobster and linguine with clams and mushrooms
I think the half lobster was mostly cheese and the linguine was only okay.I thought they would mix it up together better, but it was clear that the lobster was separate from the cream sauce linguine.

BBQ Beef Tenderloin with rice
An interesting presentation

Korean styled grilled chicken with rice
There was a pretty big portion of chicken and the teriyaki sauce was okay.
