Caplansky's Delicatessen

Caplansky's Delicatessen was another place featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
Chicken Parmigiana on a bun
The foccacia bun was really good: soft and olive flavoured. The chicken parm was okay, it wasn't really their specialty, but it was the Wednesday special.
Knish with a separate basket of fries
The knish is a Jewish puff pastry stuffed with smoked meat, potato and spices, served with smoked meat gravy. The knish was interesting, but a tad salty for my liking. The waiter recommended ordering a basket of fries to dip with the gravy. Unfortunately, the smoked meat gravy was so thick that it was like a layer of ground smoked meat, making it undippable with the flimsy fries. On top of that, the gravy and fries were quite salty individually - so you can imagine the saturation of salt together.

Carrot Cake
Mmmm carrot cake with cream cheese icing...I could definitely taste the cream cheese. The icing wasn't as sweet as I would have liked it to balance out the flavour of the carrot cake.

Overall: The food was okay, a tad salty for my taste. The service was quick and they tried to be helpful in making recommendations, but it didn't really work for me.
