Unfortunately due to construction in the town of Piscaccucho, we had to hike an extra 3 km to get to km 82 which is the start of the Inka Trail! (Credit goes to V.C. for some of the pictures!)
After a few hours of hiking, we stopped in this rest area and the Alpaca Expeditions porters started setting us up for lunch with warm water, towels and soap for washing our hands:
We sat around a table inside for lunch:
Soup and bread - really delicious and super tasty!
Chips and guacamole (so good and fresh!) and some chicken and fried rice.
Sacred Valley Corn! Up close and personal - it's pretty good just by itself with no butter or anything.
More hiking...then we were at our campsite for "happy hour" and dinner.
Our Chef Leonardo and the porters hard at work
We had popcorn, crackers, hot chocolate (Milo) and coca tea
Tofu? Some meat-like product stir-fry
Fried Yacons (Peruvian root vegetable) - fried and tasty
Omelettes (?)
Stir-Fry vegetables
Banana Flambee (and they actually lit them on fire for us!)
Everything was really good and pretty tasty - there was so much food that we never had to worry about being hungry - it was like a buffet on the trek for the 8 of us.
