Honest Kitchen

A new restaurant opened up last month right next to Maple Yip Seafood Restaurant, so we decided to give it a try.

Day 1 - Lunch

The soup that comes with the lunch combo

Sweet and Sour Pork
It was delicious with a great sauce and for $4.99, it was a fantastic price!

Stir fried green beans with ground pork
The dish was very spicy and the green beans weren't as crisp as I would have liked them to be (I was comparing them to the way Maple Yip cooks it because Maple Yip's version is amazing).

Salted fish with tofu and diced chicken
This was amazing! An absolute delight to eat and one of the best I've had! The tofu was smooth and very tasty. It was the perfect complement to the salty fish and the chicken and a nice play on the textures as well.

Sauteed seafood with seasonal vegetables
Overall it was done nicely; I would have preferred the choy to be a bit more crisp rather than soggy, but the
shrimp and squid were good.

Day 2 - Dinner
Deep fried chicken with shrimp chips
This was half a chicken and we thought the chicken was tasty. My little cousin loved the shrimp chips and he kept nibbling away on them.

Steamed oysters with garlic and green onions
I really liked the oysters with the garlic and green onions.

Steamed Bass
This is a typical Cantonese dish - steaming the fish and drizzling soy sauce on top: simple and clean. It was good: the fish didn't have the strong fishy taste.

Garlic spareribs
The spareribs were mouthwatering! Delicious and meaty sprinkled with finely chopped roasted garlic on top.
Definitely one of our favourite dishes of the night and I would totally recommend it here.

Diced filet mignon in Maggi sauce with vegetables
The filet mignon was scrumptious and perfectly moist and tender - mmmm.
The Maggi sauce tied it all together with the peppers and onions and every bite was great! This was my favourite dish of the night.

Lobster
The lobster was stir fried in soy sauce (definitely much healthier than drenching it in butter) and it was nice.

Bitter melon with pork
I wasn't really a fan of this dish - the bitter melon was too bitter and I didn't really enjoy the thin slices of pork which were mostly fatty meat. The rest of my family thought it was okay and finished it.

Stir fried baby bok choy
Simple and nice.

Overall: In total, our meal was about $119 including tax and tip for 10 people. A great deal and a satisfying meal! Our only problem was the slow service and the waiters forgot one of our orders.
