Futong Kee Bao Dim

We were picking up lunch at the food court and I noticed that there was a new bun place in the space where Wooffles and Cream used to be.
It was pretty neat to see that the store had all the space they needed to steam the buns, store them and make other food orders. The buns were also pretty cheap 2 for $1.80 considering how difficult it is to make these hot buns usually.

Two taro buns and two steamed Malay buns
I loved the colour of the buns! It's a good start for sure if they have the right colours since you eat with your eyes first. The taro bun was okay - there was taro filling inside, but it might have needed a little  bit more sugar to bring out the flavour. The malay buns were pretty good! They were light, airy and fluffy and they tasted great!

Brick Street Bakery

Raspberry Lemon Loaf $3.95
Quite yummy! It wasn't too tart or too sweet from the lemon or the raspberry and it was a nice coffee cake like dessert. It had a rather hard outside and the loaf was a little tougher than a pound cake, but it was still pretty good.

Chocolate Tart
Yummy chocolate mousse inside a soft tart shell. The mousse had great chocolate flavour and it was light and airy.

Vienna Fine Foods

My search for good schnitzel continues (since my favourite, Schnitzel Queen, closed)

Clockwise from top left: Chicken Cordon Bleu, potatoes and pasta salad and Chicken Schnitzel sandwich with sauerkraut, Grand Marnier Cake slice $3 and small Goulash $4.95
Chicken schnitzel sandwich was decent and the sauerkraut was pretty good. The goulash seemed like a really small portion, but it turned out to be pretty big. The orange liqueur cake was really nice! It was light and fluffy with a really nice punch of flavour from the liqueur and chocolate.

Chicken Cordon Bleu combo
The chicken with ham and cheese inside was a pretty sizable portion with lots of ham and cheese inside. The pasta salad was okay - it was pretty heavy on the mayonnaise. The pan fried potatoes were nice.

Le Gourmand

Mar 6, 2020
Cheesecake slice $4.95
The cheesecake was light and fluffy with a delicious vanilla flavour. It is definitely better than Japanese souffle cheesecake in my opinion, but I still like New York Style Cheesecake better.

Almond Tart $5.25
The almond tart was kind of over-baked today. The crust was super hard and the inside almond paste filling was pretty hard too.

Clockwise from top right: Chocolate lava bomb, brownie, molten lava cake and almond financier
The brownie was delicious. It was dense, but kind of fluffy at the same time and it wasn't too sweet. It was even more amazing heated up in the microwave. The souffle was good when I reheated it with a nice crispy outside and gooey inside (same with the chocolate lava bomb). I think I prefer the souffle with it's crispy edges over the lava bomb. The almond financier was good by itself and it was quite a big portion.
Of all the items I got, my favourite was definitely the brownie. It was heavenly when warmed up.

Lemon Bousset
The pastry was so good. Non-lemon lovers beware, it's very lemony.

Blogto ranked Le Gourmand's cookies as the best cookies in Toronto. I had to try it and see if it was true.
Chocolate chip cookie $3.35
The cookie was really good with lots of melted chocolate chips and a soft center. It was a big cookie, but it was still kind of pricey for a cookie.

Almond Tart $5.25
The tart was REALLY good. The cookie crust was perfect and the inside was filled with a delicious almond paste. I will definitely be back to try their other tarts and sweets!
