Koko Head Cafe- Honolulu

Kailua Beach

Chef Lee Ann Wong has been featured on numerous food network shows including Top Chef and Iron Chef America, so I was really looking forward to trying her Asian fusion food at Koko Head Cafe (Koko Head is also a trail in Hawaii)

Eggs Haloa - poached eggs on poi biscuit with hollandaise and local greens
The eggs and hollandaise sauce were great. However, we really ordered this to try the poi which is something you have to try in Hawaii.
Poi is made from taro, but it's not really sweet like most taro food and has more of a sour flavour from fermentation.

Lemongrass Beef Katsu with peanut sauce, pickle salad, peppers and rice
A big portion of crispy beef katsu - good flavours

Koko Moco with a beef patty, garlic rice, mushroom gravy, egg and tempura kimchi
Really good! The Koko Head version of the traditional loco moco - delicious! I actually really liked the whole combination of a beef patty, rice, egg and gravy. The tempura kimchi was fun too.
