Sugar Sweet Cafe

June 7, 2020
Sugar Sweet Cafe is open for takeout during the Covid-19 pandemic! They were also super fast with our order, we got our food really quickly after we called.
Baked pork chop fried rice and pork and chicken steak with tomato sauce spaghetti
I really missed their tomato sauce! It seems like so long ago since I had my favourite sweet and savoury tomato/ketchup sauce with spaghetti (it's been about 6 months, but we used to be regulars at Sugar Sweet Cafe every few weeks). The pricing remained the same and portion sizes are still pretty big - especially the baked pork chop rice (such great value for money for $8.50!) So good!

Pork Chop Bun, Fried Noodles with Beef, Sizzling hot plate with steak (and spaghetti)
The pork chop bun was pretty good, but it was almost like a snack portion as opposed to the other dishes. The fried noodles with beef had a lot of sauce which was nice. The sizzling hot plate with steak was okay.

Pork and Chicken steak with tomato sauce on spaghetti (my go-to dish here)

Sizzle Hot plate with chicken and tomato sauce
Surprisingly, I didn't like this as much as the chicken and pork steak above. I think the sizzle plate caused some of the sauce to evaporate or something because the sauce was a lot more concentrated (and not as tasty) and there wasn't enough sauce for the side plate of spaghetti and the chicken steak.

Baked pork chop on fried rice. (Another go-to dish here)

Baked pork chop with tomato sauce and fried rice
We noticed a lot of people ordering this dish, so we tried it out and it was so worth it. The pork chop was crispy, the tomato sauce was really good with melted cheese and the fried rice was good.

Chicken and pork steak with tomato sauce spaghetti
Great value for money - you get a chicken steak and a pork chop with a ton of spaghetti on the side.

Another find on Yelp for Hong Kong Style Cafes:

Chinese soup and Vegetable soup
I prefer the vegetable soup (it has a stronger flavour)

Chicken and Pork spaghetti with tomato sauce spaghetti
Their tomato sauce spaghetti was MUCH better than the last few places I've eaten at - it's sweet but more savoury and it goes well with the chicken and pork. However, it still doesn't beat or come as close to my favourite tomato sauce spaghetti (in my memory). It's a really good dish though and I'd definitely order it again.

Baked chicken with spinach and cream sauce spaghetti
We had high expectations when we saw a review that said this was really good - unfortunately it really wasn't. The cream sauce was really sweet and it just tasted off with the spaghetti and chicken. I'd avoid this dish in the future.
