Dingding International Hotel Breakfast - Nanjing

Building the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge was a huge engineering feat for the Chinese in 1960 since they had no external engineering assistance after the Soviet engineers withdrew. The bridge is a source of National pride for the Chinese people as thousands of people died in the building of the bridge over the Yangtze River.

The Newly Built Dingding International Hotel is amazing!
After the construction of the Nanjing Changjiang Tunnel, the area around the Dingding International Hotel has been rapidly developing. According to our local tour guide, it used to take 1-2 hours to get to Pukou due to congested traffic on the Nanjing Yangtze River bridge over the Yangtze river, but now it takes 1/2 hour using the tunnel (but it's a toll road so you'll have to pay for the convenience).

Left Dish: Noodle soup with seaweed, green onions and tiny shrimps
Right Dish (clockwise from the left):
1) Pork Skewers were really yummy. I didn't get a chance to try out the street food at the Confucius Temple Market because I was too full from dinner that night, so instead I grabbed a few more pork skewers for breakfast. The skewers were a little spicy and I found it interesting that the chunks of meat were separated by the chewy bones
2) Chinese style cupcake was okay (no icing - definitely no comparison to Magnolia Bakery)
3) Ham in a blanket (instead of pigs I guess)
4) Pork bun was good - some of the juices soaked the inside of the bun which made it better.
5) Chocolate mousse cake: Dessert for breakfast and it even had a hint of orange liqueur - Great way to start the day.
6) Chocolate brownie with lots of nuts (do I detect walnut?)
7) Boiled Salty Duck: how could I pass up the Nanjing specialty that I had last night? They even had a whole duck out for people to eat. Yum!
8) Fried noodles were on the oily side but still good

Overall: I liked the breakfast at the Dingding International Hotel - they had a lot of variety and they kept things interesting with dessert and the specialty duck.
