Lunch - Shanghai

Yuyuan Area

Part of Old City of Shanghai, China.
The Garden and surrounding area was first built during the Ming Dynasty over 400 years ago. Since then, the area has been restored by the Shanghai Government and is now a popular market place and tourist attraction.

The sponsored restaurant was near the Yuyuan Garden:

(L): Stir fry pork with vegetables and (R): Sweet and Sour Chicken
The stir fry pork with onions and red & green peppers was okay
The Sweet and Sour chicken on the other hand...we could barely recognize it as chicken. It was gummy in texture and looked like breaded fish chunks instead of breaded chicken.

Deep fried fish
This dish was pretty good, the fish was crispy.

From the left: Potatoes in Curry Sauce and Eggplant with beef
The curry sauce was a little watery and the potatoes didn't have enough time to soak in the sauce.
The eggplant and beef dish was oily.

From the Left: Broccoli in white sauce and dumpling soup
The white sauce made the broccoli taste kind of bland and the dumpling soup was okay. The soup was kind of bland even with the seaweed in the soup.

Mu shu pork
The mantou bao that the pork is wrapped in was cold in the middle. The mu shu pork was tasty though.

Egg pancake
Relatively simple and it was okay.

Overall: We learned our lesson: breakfast is a much better meal than lunch while on the Tour.
